HERE FAUNA
Here, I Saw You Be Yourself
I share with the world the most intimate part of myself. A part that I only share with the love of my life. I hope in this way, you got to know me, and remember that I have never left you. A S H E S.
Here Fauna comes as a pair to Dear Flora Series whereby I transform photography to drawings. Dear Flora was a seminal piece about gay male affection that resides for women. More of a love letter to her. Here Fauna is a calling of some sorts whereby the subject which is myself is drawn to situations and is like an innocent naive creature.
Here Fauna consists of many sets. It speaks of gay pride as a running theme, trying to break the triple standards that underlie current views of nudity, misogyny and feminism. It also tackles our notion of what is acceptable art in 2024.
Themes of Belonging, Individualism, Cultural Identity and Unity with Nature as Spiritualism. It depicts photographic art that is transformed via computer application. Testifying again to what is considered as wholly art and what has been art for a long time.
With a little over 200 pieces for Here Fauna, this becomes the largest series I have worked on so far. Understanding the nuisances and different story each piece provides, it very much makes me appreciate time as a narrator of given history. For in each piece is its own right.
Thoughts of Self Realization. I really wanted to leave something behind, for continuity. I have made it to the end of my line and there is nothing left to do but bequeath myself to the world. For it has been good to me, it has blessed me and in my art I shall remain.
